8 of Spades - Justice.
20 May 2021 09:36We have another goddess in a building - this one, opposite to the High Priestess, has her eyes covered by a blindfold. The eyes aren't completely gone, though - they are below her chin, being weighed by a scale. On either side of her face are white columns, and purple curtains beyond that. Above the blindfolds are 8 sword blades in a row. The head seems to be floating... the background being just blue fabric.
This card seems austere. Jagged, even. Things are not in their right place (the eyes, the swords instead of hair or forehead). I can see the symbolism - the eyes, the sight, is on the scale... weighing, measuring. Perhaps this card is Justice? Perhaps it is about thinking logically?
The pamphlet calls this out as the Major Arcana Justice (big surprise), with a tagline of "Reason" and "Fairness".
It's very of the now that the woman on the card is black... I will say, it's a lot more pleasant than the gray skinned person from earlier in the suite!
Yes, I think I picked up what the card was laying down. Again, I have the feeling that this card is more menacing than what the general consensus seems to be. I mean, who's to say that the one on the receiving end of Justice and Fairness is you? Or if it is you, there's more than one direction Justice and Fairness can go in, just sayin'...
I'm getting close to the end, but the heavy hitters just keep on coming. Good - may each card make me think deeply, and give me the foresight which I will need in this life.
